JUST LIKE HOME
Your bird will be boarded securely indoors, in a safe, happy & occupied home. We allow plenty of daily out-of-cage playtime with both male & female humans.
Some of the bird boarders favourite activities include: head scratches, learning tricks, chewing toys, eating (stealing) veggies from Kelly’s dinner plate, dancing & bopping, listening to music, watching TV (Spongebob & Bobs Burgers are favourites!)
Your bird will be treated like part of the family.
Freshly picked native foliage is placed in cages twice a week (more frequently for enthusiastic chewers) along with other disposable toys including our Macaw & Cocky favourite, known as the ‘tree bark hanging mobile’.
Birds will get bathing opportunities, and if requested, daily relocation to the undercover decking area which has great views of the Dandenong wetlands. This option is especially suitable for parrots who are used to being housed outside/semi-outdoors.
While you are away, updates will be sent to you upon request. We also love to send photos & videos. You can even have a live webcam session with your bird! All for no extra charge.
Birds adapt quickly to change so don’t be worried about you bird fretting when you leave, your bird will love being in a happy and comforting family home, not in a shop or facility with cages stacked on top of one another.
HEALTH
Only healthy birds will be accepted for boarding. Birds not previously tested for Chlamydophila psittaci (also referred to as psittacosis/chlamydiosis/parrot fever) may need to be tested by us for $20. Cockatoos may require an additional PBFD test (cost $40) depending on their age & history. Alternatively, you may of course provide a valid document from your avian vet that includes the same test(s). Unfortunately a regular ‘visual’ check up from your vet will not be sufficient, as birds can look completely healthy, even to a vet, but still be carriers of disease.
Cages, floors & surfaces are cleaned with F10 SC veterinary disinfectant.
Natural lighting is supplied with cages near windows, and/or supplemental lights on timers (natural daylight spectrum 5000k).
Vetafarm pellets, vegies, fruit, seeds and other healthy foods are included in the boarding fees. If requested, seed to pellet conversions are provided free of charge while boarding (highly recommended!)
TRANSPARENCY
Our boarding prices are openly displayed on our website, see rates. The daily rate is further reduced for stays over 21 days, extra birds & multi-family stays. Cage hire is available for your convenience and only attracts a small extra fee ($5-$20 per week)
Pre-boarding visits are most welcome (except during peak periods). Please contact us to arrange a time so we can show you around, we’d love to answer any questions you may have, and we enjoy giving advice to help owners enrich their birds life.
